I SPENT a summer in the philippines with a group from the Christian Reformed Church doing evangelism, traveling, showing the Jesus film, giving Christian testimony, and much more. THIS blog is dedicated to the good people of the Philippines & also current Filipino news. God bless our brothers & sisters in Christ in the islands of the Philippines !

SUMMER MISSION
4 CHRIST !
THESE PICS are from a summer mission in the Philippines in 1992...that I took with the Christian Reformed Church (CRC)...a small group of Americans & Canadians...we also worked with some Filipino evangelists from YWAM (Youth with a Mission)...it was a great time...one of the highlights of my life..singing, praising God, giving testimony, acting out skits...big crowds...lots of kids and adults too...showing the Jesus film..traveling by boat to different islands (including Tacloban that was recently hit by the typhoon)...and much more...
also see portions of a slide-video at
and
above: a son of one of the full-time missionaries in Tacloban..we took a time for R&R ...up a river..swimming..jumping off rocks, enjoying the view
Above: the Douglas Macarthur statue...an awesome reminder...and it remained standing, I am told, during the typhoon, except for one of the figurines that toppled; also we visited the Imelda Marcos museum...as missionaries it's important to know your whereabouts, the local culture & color, etc whether you approve of it or not...
above: we also saw an beautiful cave on the trip up the river
above: douglas macarthur proclamation (1944)
above: that's me diving off the rock !
above: one of our biggest outreach events was at the school...lots of kids..cheering..very inspirational..they were transfixed !
above: we also attended a local wedding, where one of the full-time missionaries presided.
above: before we left the USA we had an "orientation" in Georgia with many different short-term missionaries...not just the CRC but also presbyterian..and we were all going to different countries...here I am before we left
above: I see Luisa (black & white dress) in this picture. I still have email contact with her from time-to-time..she's in the Philippines. I hope to see her again face-to-face some day.
